Efficiency of Oil Heat
Did you know that while oil heat produces up to 30% more heat than other fuels, it's one of the most efficient and safest?
Modern oil heat systems operate at up to 97% efficiency with the majority operating between 83% and 95%. This means that as little as only 3% of the heat generated is lost to the outside, making oil heat equal to or better than natural gas, which operates with an efficiency range of between 78% to 95%.
The heating oil that these systems use is a non-explosive, non-toxic and non-carcinogenic liquid and when properly maintained produce no soot or odors within your home and almost no smoke into the chimney.
Visit www.coha-ontario.ca to learn more about the benefits of oil heat. Use the Quick Contact Form to the right of your screen or call one of our home comfort specialists to learn more about installing a new oil heat system or upgrading your existing one to experience cost savings of up to 40%.
You might be surprised to learn that oil heat systems are 1% better for the environment than natural gas systems, 136% better for the environment than geothermal heat pumps and an astonishing 2,437% better than wood heat.
These are the findings of a study by the U.S. Oil heat Manufacturers Association which took into consideration the total cost to society of various heating fuels.
Heating oil burns so efficiently that you now require less energy to maintain a comfortable heating level in your home and the air pollution released from the system is less significant. For example, up to 99.9% of the fuel is used to create heat with only 0.1% of it being released into the air as particulates.
In addition to this, advancements in tank storage now include a leak detector system and significant protection from corrosion, as seen in Granby’s Eco Plus Double-Bottom tank. Oil heat is truly an efficient and environmentally conscious form of home comfort.

We are pleased to announce The Sarjeant Co. has grown again.
Beginning August 16, 2010 Sarjeants and Waite Fuels of Gravenhurst have joined forces to better serve our valued customers in the Bracebridge and Gravenhurst areas. Waite Fuels is a family run business that started delivering home heating oil to homes and cottages as well as on and off site diesel fuel delivery back in 1972. It was a natural fit for Waite Fuels to join the Sarjeant family as we have worked together for many years, Sarjeants supplying fuel for the Waite trucks.
The friendly faces of the Waite Team, Steve Waite, John Waite fuel driver and Marilyn Maxwell in the office will be relocating into our Bracebridge location shortly. Please join us in welcoming the Waite team into the Sarjeant family.
"Just a note of appreciation:
In 1962, while living in Barrie, my wife Pat and I bought our first home.
It was at this time that we started to purchase our furnace heating oil from the Sarjeant Company.
The price of oil at that time was .17c a gallon.
In l965, after joining the Ontario Provincial Police, I was posted to the Orillia detachment, where we bought our second home where we currently still reside.
We have been a satisfied customer with the Sarjeant Company continuously over the past 52 years and have enjoyed your unending quality goods and service.
Keep up this excellent service.
Many thanks, The Hurtubise family.
