Talk is Free Theatre (TiFT)

Talk is Free Theatre (TIFT) is an artist-driven, award winning theatre company based in Barrie.

The company was founded in 2003 by Artistic Producer Arkady Spivak and has produced fifty productions concentrating largely on new and neglected work.

In 2010, TIFT and Birdland Theatre co-produced Assassins in Toronto. This critically acclaimed production sold out its entire run and won the Dora Award for Best Musical. It was remounted in January, 2011 with five new cast members and once again, it sold out for 6 weeks, including two extensions.

Recognizing the importance of fostering people and talent in the local arts community, Sarjeants is a regular Gold Sponsor of TIFT. This, along with Sarjeant’s other contributions to the arts, including events such as Sarjeant’s Design Project – Concrete Mixer Art which saw a local artist commissioned to visit four local schools and have students design art to be displayed on our concrete mixer drums, earned Sarjeants the 2011 Business Award at the 2011 Barrie Arts Awards.

Talk is Free Theatre continues to expand the education of artists and the community on the art and business of theatre through a broad range of outreach and development programs.
