The Building Hope Campaign is in support of the Lighthouse, located in Orillia, Ontario. This facility has functioned as an Emergency Men’s Shelter and daily as a soup kitchen. Until recent years, the function was fairly basic, get men off of the streets or off of a friend’s couch, point them towards housing resources, feed those experiencing food insecurity in the community and give spiritual hope. Over the years the Lighthouse has partnered with many different organizations to promote things like mental health, addictions counseling and employment resources. There are many people men, women, youth and seniors who come to the Lighthouse daily to get assistance, with approximately 25,000 meals served per year.
The Sarjeant Company has donated $50,000 worth of materials to this project is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2019. Included in this building will be three phases which will include the following:
Phase 1 – Supportive Housing – 20 units
Phase 2 – Emergency Shelter including 40 emergency beds for men, women, youth and families, a soup kitchen, supportive aids such as addictions and mental health counseling
Phase 3 – Affordable Housing
