Human Resources/Health and Safety Coordinator Custom Concrete (Timmins)

We are seeking a full-time, permanent Human Resources/Health and Safety Coordinator to undertake a variety of HR and Health and Safety duties at our location in Timmins, Ontario. This position is a unique opportunity to strengthen the HR presence and align with the organizations overall HR & Health & Safety strategy. The successful candidate will facilitate functions such as; benefits administration, recruiting, training, health and safety programs, inspections, accident investigations and other administrative initiatives.

Job Description:

• Act as the point of contact for all Human Resources related inquires
• Work with managers weekly to ensure employee hours submitted to payroll are accurate and in accordance with the company, association and government policies
• Handling personnel transactions: onboarding new employees, processing layoffs/terminations, time and attendance tracking (vacation, personal, sick days etc.)
• Benefit administration (group health & dental, salary continuance and long term disability)
• Maintain employee information in the HRIS. Prepare and analyze reports that are necessary to carry out the functions of the various departments and the company overall. Prepare periodic reports for management, as necessary and/or requested.
• Support and assist the management team in areas that involve recruitment, employee performance, on-boarding and other administrative tasks as assigned
• Lead the recruitment process, including screening, interviewing, preparing/reviewing offer letters, employee orientation, etc.
• WSIB claim management; including communicating with adjudicators, submitting WSIB reports and facilitating the return-to-work process
• Partner with management to communicate Human Resources policies, procedures and programs
• Special projects and other duties as assigned

• Develop, implement and maintain the company health and safety management system in compliance with the company’s H&S protocol, including programs such as fall protection, mobile equipment, machine guarding, fuel handling, incident investigation, regulatory inspection, contractor policy, etc.
• Ensure health and safety compliance with applicable codes and regulations
• Conduct Incident/Accident Investigations on any workplace incidents and implement corrective action
• Maintain documentation of the company’s safety procedures, accidents and related events
• Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance and identify safety issues
• Liaise with and report to official regulatory bodies on health and safety matters (MOLTSD etc.)
• Work with Sarjeant H&S Coordinator to maintain health and safety policies, procedures and manuals as needed ensuring regulatory compliance

Qualifications/Skills:

  • • The ability to work with highly sensitive and confidential information, maintaining employee privacy and setting a standard for privacy in the workplace
    • Professional, self-motivated, well-organized and very detail-oriented with the flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple ongoing tasks
    • Strong interpersonal, relationship building and customer service skills
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and management
    • Proficient in MS Office: Microsoft Word, Excel, etc., as well as payroll software’s (such as ADP)
    • Ability to prepare and analyze reports
    • Experience leading the recruitment process which includes posting jobs, screening candidates, interviewing and preparing offers of employment
    • Experience providing HR support to various locations virtually (which includes over the phone, via email and video conferencing)
    • Experience providing administrative support to an organizations management team
  • • Post-Secondary education in Human Resources and/or equivalent work experience
    • Two (2) years relevant experience with health and safety programs
    • CHRP designation, or working towards, considered an asset
    • 2-3 years recent and relevant experience in Human Resources and Health and Safety
    • Post-secondary education in a related discipline preferred or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
    • Comfort conducting presentations to small and mid-size groups – a must
    • Executive or administrative assistant experience would be considered an asset

Job Type: In Person

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Salary: $65,000-$75,000 per year
