Scott Elliott

Scott Elliott – CEO

Scott Elliott is the owner and CEO of the Sarjeant Company Ltd. and Custom Concrete (Northern). Scott’s humble beginnings in the concrete industry began at 16 as a self-proclaimed “tire-buster and grease-monkey” for Custom Concrete. In time, Scott performed the duties of batcher, dispatcher, scraper operator, dozer operator and 2 years in the lab as quality control technician. Scott is still very much involved in the day-to-day operations of the concrete and aggregate business, an industry he has a great personal interest in.

Scott studied business at York University, and further studied concrete and aggregate technologies at various industry specific institutes in Canada, Europe and the United States.
Scott is a former President of the Ready Mix Concrete Association of Ontario (1989) and past Chairman of their Technical and Safety Committee. Scott also served as Director and Past President of the Barrie Construction Association. In 1990 he was named Barrie Business Man of the Year and in 2005 Sarjeants was named Employer of the Year.
Scott has served as Chairman of Royal Victoria Hospital from July 2006 to December 2008, he also served as Vice-Chair of the Board and Chair of Joint Conference. Scott has been a Director at Royal Victoria Hospital since 2001.
In 2012, Scott was named the inaugural recipient of the Barrie Arts Award for Business, and was awarded the Maurice MacLaren Award from the gallery for his contribution to the community.
In 2013 Scott was awarded The Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, this Medal recognizes and honours exceptional Canadians for their contributions to their fellow citizens, community and country.
Scott also finds time to be an active member of the Rotary Club of Barrie. Scott is an avid diver, and started his own scuba diving company in Muskoka in his teens. Residing in Barrie, Scott together with his son Brandon operate The Sarjeant Company Ltd and Custom Concrete Northern. Also a part of the Elliott family are daughters Brianna in the legal profession, and Amanda who is an Architect.
Scott and Brandon feel strongly that as business becomes more automated; we must always be vigilant to provide customers with a “human experience” rather than an impersonal automated approach.

BRANDON ELLIOTT

BRANDON ELLIOTT – PRESIDENT

Brandon has spent his entire professional career with The Sarjeant Company Ltd. He started from the bottom and worked his way to his current role as President. In 2007 Brandon began as a labourer, working wherever he was needed. Eventually he would work his way through the aggregate pits and quality control to running concrete batch plants at our Hunstville facility and the Detour Gold mine project. Using this experience he lead his first portable project at the Brion Energy SAGD project in Fort McMurray, AB in 2012. In 2014 he moved to Vancouver to spearhead Custom Concrete Northerns’ large scale portable projects. He made his return to Barrie in the summer of 2017, rejoining Sarjeants at our headquarters. He aims to dedicate himself to the company in order to guarantee its long term success in both the remote project management and base operations.

JEREMY PIETILA

JEREMY PIETILA – GENERAL MANAGER

Leading our northern division at Custom Concrete Northern, with over 20 years’ experience with Jeremy Pietila. Jeremy graduated from Northern College’s Civil Survey and Construction program, followed close by a Bachelors of Engineering from Lakehead University. No stranger to the North Jeremy, his wife Becky and their children Ramsey and Amber are very active in the Timmins community including supporting community sports, and enjoying the wildlife that northern Ontario has to offer.

AARON SAVORD

AARON SAVORD – OPERATIONS MANAGER

After a long-standing relationship with Custom Concrete through his father’s trucking company, Aaron broke into the freight business on his own. In 2008 he joined the Custom Concrete Northern team as a driver. With experience beyond the wheel he later transitioned into the role of Operations Manager. While managing the day-to-day operations keeps Aaron occupied, he also enjoys the outdoors with his wife Stacey.

KEITH DUHAN – SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Representing Sarjeant Fuels in the Northern sector is Sales Rep Keith Duhan. Keith, a 35 year veteran of the oil and fuel industry has worked all over central Canada representing brands such as British Petroleum, Petro-Canada and Esso. Raised in Montreal, Keith attended Concordia University’s Sociology program. For the past 10 years Keith has sat on the board of directors for Alpine Ontario, a Not-for-Profit organization promoting the development of recreational and competitive skiing.

ROBERT IRVINE – CONTROLLER

Rob, a Chartered Professional Account, relocated to Northern Ontario from his home town of Welland, Ontario in 2006.  Rob has helmed the financial departments at several mine sites prior to coming to Custom Concrete Northern and has had experience with large-scale construction projects in harsh environments.  He spent many years working in the Canadian Arctic and Alaska.  His early accounting experience included accounts payable and receivables, cost accounting, and payroll.  As a Controller, Rob has great experiences in collaborative team building and has served as a business coach to others for the last ten years.  He also has experience in public and non-profit accounting.  He currently resides in Monteith, Ontario with his wife Karen and their pets.  Rob enjoys painting in his spare time and is an accomplished musician.

CHRIS MACDONALD – SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Chris joined the Custom Concrete Northern team in September of 2020. Upon completing his studies from Laurentian University in 2016, Chris pursued a career with in concrete and aggregates. In that time, Chris worked his way from QC technician to QC supervisor at the KIDD paste-fill plant before pursuing opportunities in Ottawa, Sault Ste. Marie, and Red Lake – learning to batch, supervise, and manage ready-mix plants, aggregate sites and operate portable plants until he eventually settled in as the Plant Superintendent in Thunder Bay. Chris and his girlfriend, Carly, jumped at the chance to move back to Timmins when the opportunity presented itself upon Carly’s graduation from Western University and are looking forward to making a difference in the local community for years to come while enjoying their weekends at the Lake with their dogs.

PATRICK ROBBENHAAR

PATRICK ROBBENHAAR – GENERAL MANAGER

Patrick, a Certified Management Accountant, is a native of Thunder Bay and a graduate from Lakehead University with his Honours Bachelor of Commerce. Prior to joining the Sarjeant Family in 2003, Patrick spent 9 years as General Manager at McKevitt Trucking in Thunder Bay. For the next five years he was in the position of Controller at Clarke Transport in Concord. Patrick got his accounting designation in 2000 and was made a fellow by the Certified Management Accountants of Canada in 2009. Pat is an avid traveler has traveled extensively throughout South America and Europe. Patrick is ultimately responsible, through his managers and employees, for ensuring the overall success of the Sarjeant Company. Alongside his wife Marika and their children Vincent, Mira and Tessa they reside in Midhurst, Ontario.

CHASE CLARK

CHASE CLARK – SALES MANAGER

As The Sarjeant Company’s Sales Manager Chase leads a team of dedicated sales representatives promoting a strong customer relationship and making sure all customers continue to be treated with exceptional quality and service. Chase has many extracurricular activities which include volunteering on the board of directors for the Simcoe Home Builders Association, playing and coaching hockey, and getting out to the golf course whenever the chance presents itself. What he enjoys most of all however, is spending time with his wife and their two children.

DOUG SUTTON

DOUG SUTTON – VICE PRESIDENT OF SALES AND MARKETING AND CONSTRUCTION PRODUCTS

Doug Sutton has had a career in management since the mid-1970s and is a 38 year veteran of The Sarjeant Company Ltd. During his tenure as Sales Manager of ready-mix concrete, aggregate and asphalt Doug was instrumental in developing and expanding these divisions. In 2013, Doug was promoted to Vice President. Prior to a career in the industrial industry Doug served as a volunteer firefighter for over 20 years, earning the rank of Lieutenant. As a firefighter he was a trainer facilitator, health & safety rep, and attended fire college and various forest fire suppression programs. Doug is an avid snowmobiler. Doug and his wife have one son and live in Barrie, ON.

SCOTT GIBBONS

SCOTT GIBBONS – OPERATIONS MANAGER

From running the day-to-day of the Sarjeant operation, to interacting with customers Scott Gibbons leads a busy life. Scott joined The Sarjeant Company Ltd. in August of 2008 as a Quality Control Technician. Through hard work and thorough attention to detail, Scott worked his way to his current position as Operations Supervisor. Scott is also a member of the Concrete Ontario Technical Committee, certified with the American Concrete Institute (ACI), and a member of our internal Joint Health & Safety Committee. Scott, his wife and their two young children reside in the Barrie area.

SAMANTHA ROMANICK

SAMANTHA HUNT – READY MIX SUPERVISOR

Samantha came to Sarjeants in 2014 as our Fleet Administrator, from managing a truck and trailer repair centre in Orillia for 9 years. Her passion and experience comes from the transportation industry.  Soon after she came on board she became a member of the Joint Health and Safety Committee and started chairing the meetings shortly after that.  Samantha has got the Sarjeant Company involved in the Workplace Safety and Preventions Services (WSPS) Safety Group, the successful completion of the program enabled Sarjeants to receive a rebate from our WSIB premiums.  In early 2018 Samantha moved into the role of Health and Safety Coordinator.Samantha completed the Human Resources Studies program at Georgian College and is currently enrolled in the Occupational Health and Safety Program at Seneca College. In June 2021 Sam began moved in to her new role as Ready Mix Supervisor. In addition to furthering her education Samantha enjoys spending time at the cottage in Témiscamingue, Quebec and traveling with her partner Darren.  She is the proud mother of two beautiful girls Jay-Lyn and Jordyn.

MIKE MACMILLAN

MIKE MACMILLAN – ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER

Mike has worked in Information Technology since the nineties and was formerly IT Manager at Sarjeant since 2005. Mike also manages several land development projects for Sarjeant as well as taking an active role in operations. Mike is President of the MacLaren Art Center and collaborated on the Sarjeant design project, putting the work of dozens of local young artists on our concrete drums. In his spare time, Mike (as “Skeptisketch”) creates whiteboard animations and explainer videos for various scientists, celebrities, companies and institutions. In 2016, over 40 million people on Facebook and Youtube watched Mike (on his way to work at Sarjeant) rescue a skunk with a coke can on his head.

ADAM TOFFAN

ADAM TOFFAN – AGGREGATE OPERATIONS

Adam has worked for the Sarjeant Company Ltd. for the past 10+ years, while supervising and managing the aggregate division. Adam oversees the operations of all aggregate pits. He ensures that the highest quality of aggregates are being produced, to guarantee the exceptional standards of Sarjeants products are being met.

EDMOND SHEREGY – FUEL & HVAC MANAGER

Edmond joined the Sarjeants team in April of 2021 . He has twenty years’ experience in the fuel industry and he has taken on managing the fuel, propane and lubricant divisions at Sarjeants. Edmond is certified as a petroleum mechanic, oil burner technician, propane delivery driver and a Canadian fuel association driver. Prior to this Edmond has received his BA from University of Toronto and MA from University of Ottawa. In his free time he likes to spend time with him family and travel.

WAYNE WILSON

WAYNE NASH WILSON – DIRECTOR OF FINANCE

Wayne, a Chartered Professional Accountant, grew up in Wasaga Beach and graduated from Georgian College and then Laurentian University with his Honours Bachelor of Business Administration – Accounting. Prior to joining Sarjeants in 2017, Wayne got his start in public practice with SSL Group a local CPA firm. After that Wayne spent time with Canopy Growth Corporation and Mettrum as Acting General Manager and Financial Analyst. Wayne and his wife Jacobine are avid travelers and have extensively traveled Europe and North America. They enjoy the outdoors, living in the country, helping out on their families farm and spending time at their family cottage in Tiny with their Akita in the summer.

Wayne’s focus is on providing Strategic and Operational support while managing the finance team.

THUSHAN ARAVINTHAN – CONTROLLER

Thushan, a Chartered Professional Accountant, grew up in the city of Vaughan and graduated from McMaster University in 2015. Prior to joining the Sarjeants’ team in 2022, Thushan held various accounting positions primarily in the manufacturing sector before his most recent role as the Controller at Enersys. Thushan is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations and providing financial leadership. In his free time, Thushan enjoys travelling and spending time with his border collie and family.

ROSEANNE KOOL

ROSEANNE KOOL – CREDIT MANAGER

Roseanne joined the Credit team at Sarjeants in 2016, and in 2020 became Credit Manager.. Under her leadership our Account Management initiatives have improved, and customer satisfaction has increased. Under her advisement, she helped a team in winning multiple Environmental awards for customers such as Ryerson University, the Eaton Centre, the Royal York Hotel and the Delta Chelsea Hotel. Roseanne has a dedicated approach to using a consultative approach to reveal each customer’s needs and create targeted strategies, bringing personalization to each account she looks after. Roseanne has also participated in various professional development opportunities to expand her knowledge, specifically with the Construction Lien Act.

Roseanne also has 15+ years of successful sales and sales leadership experience in both start-up and territory management/expansion roles. Outside of Sarjeants, Roseanne is interested in photography, golf and volunteers her time with the Look Good Feel Better at RVH program helping women with cancer build their morale.

ADITYA MISHRA

ADITYA MISHRA – IT MANAGER

Aditya became a part of The Sarjeant Company during the completion of his student Co-Op for a Computer Networking program at Georgian College. Prior to this he also completed a Bachelor’s of Computer Science and Engineering from NMIMS University in Mumbai, India. Following his Co-Op placement, Aditya was hired on as a Network Administrator, he was later promoted to IT Manager in 2018. Outside the office Aditya enjoys playing video games, and participating in sports such as cricket and tennis.

KIM DICKSON – CORPORATE ADMINISTRATION & HUMAN RESOURCES

Kim joined Sarjeants in 2007 as Executive Assistant to the management team. Covering a maternity leave Kim jumped into the role right away and just never left. During her time with Sarjeants Kim has contributed to many areas of the business including; health and safety, payroll and benefits, human resources, general office management and corporate administration.  Although the scope of her work has varied, one of her favourite activities is planning Sarjeants Social events, including our annual Christmas party.    Prior to Sarjeants Kim had an extensive career in Payroll & Benefits, Human Resources and Facilities Management.  Kim and her husband Brad live in Springwater and enjoy the outdoors as much as possible with their dog Cooper. They have two grown children Christian and Jordyn.

DEREK BEAN – MASTER DRIVER TRAINER

Derek has been with Sarjeants since 2017, Derek began his trucking career in 1994. His driving experience spans across North America and includes everything from car haulers to reefer trucks. If it has wheels on it he has probably driven it at some point. At Sarjeants he has driven every type of vehicle in our fleet. From Fuel B Trains & floats to powder haulers, Ready Mix trucks, as well as 7m, 9m and 12m trailer mixers. In 2020 Derek completed the Ministry of Transportations’ Driver Certification Program, licencing him to train for A or D licenses, he is also a qualified air brake instructor. Derek is safety focused and takes great pride in seeing good drivers being put on the road. When not behind the wheel he enjoys relaxing with his wife and grandson and will never turn down an opportunity to watch Nascar!

JEFF DUMAIS – DRIVER TRAINER

Jeff started with Sarjeants in 2019, already having over nineteen years of experience driving a truck. Jeff is an exemplary ready-mix driver and when asked to join Derek in the training arena he was all in. Jeff finished his Ministry of Transportations’ Driver Certification Program training in 2023, certifying him for D licences and air brakes. He is qualified to train and test new DZ drivers and re-licence existing DZ drivers. Jeff is calm and professional, committed to helping new and returning drivers be the best they can be. In his personal life, he enjoys playing bass guitar with his band or taking weekend road trips on his motorcycle.

DAVE DOBSON – HEALTH & SAFETY COORDINATOR

Dave joined Sarjeants’ in 2022 in the role of Health and Safety Coordinator. He is a Graduate of the Seneca College Police Sciences Program, which enabled him to progress through his early career of over 25 years in Law Enforcement and Corporate Security. Dave and his family moved to Alberta early in the new millennium where he then started a new career in Health, Safety and Environmental Management and received certification by the Alberta Construction Safety Association as a COR Auditor and a Health and Safety Administrator. He eventually returned to Ontario where he joined the TD Bank Group as a Senior Manager responsible for Physical Security and Crime Prevention in Canada. After leaving the Bank and toying with retirement, Dave took a part time role to keep busy and this ultimately led him to joining The Sarjeant Company, returning to his previous field of Health and Safety. It is his goal to help The Sarjeant Company attain its’ Health and Safety COR Certification in the near future. Dave and his wife, Ann Marie, live in Orillia, close to their three grown children and their two Wonderful Grandchildren, Liam and Fiona. He is an eternal optimist and believes that his beloved Maple Leafs will win the Stanley Cup soon.

DIVYESH SHAH – NETWORK TECHNICIAN

Divyesh attained his B.E. (Computer Engineering) in India in 2016, followed up with studies in Network Management and Software Testing.
Divyesh’s experience includes working as a Technical Support Advisor with a large technologies company fielding numerous support calls daily. His technical experience also includes working for a technology solutions provider supporting and troubleshooting a variety of server, systems and storage issues.

JOHN MANNEROW

JOHN MANNEROW – SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Serving our Muskoka customers is John Mannerow; John was born in Owen Sound, but has been in the Ready Mix Concrete industry in Muskoka since 1986. Among many industry programs and certifications, John has also completed the Queen’s University Operations Management MBA program. John lives in Huntsville with his wife and two sons.

WAYNE SIMKIN

WAYNE SIMKIN – SALES REPRESENTATIVE

After graduating from Sir Sandford Fleming College’s Forestry program, Wayne travelled to northern Ontario to work for the Ministry of Natural Resources in communities such as Red Lake, Fort Frances and Moosonee. After a career guiding Caribou hunters and anglers through the Arctic, in 2005 Wayne joined Sarjeants as a dispatcher in Barrie and was later transferred to the Midland location. In 2008, Wayne and his Annette settled into their home in Waverley, Ontario. In 2009, Wayne shifted gears again and joined the Sales team where he has been driven by the goal to assist customers any way he can, supplying quality products and advice, no matter what phase of a project they are at. Notably, Wayne is a two-time world champion in bird carving, and also boasts numerous Canadian titles.

MIKE KUBICA

MIKE KUBICA – SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Mike, a Georgian College Electrical Engineering graduate joined The Sarjeant Company Ltd. in 2008. Prior to a career in Sales, Mike took initiative in many different aspects of the business. From being a Quality Control Technician to Batch Plant Supervisor to working on remote projects in Alberta, Mike has a wealth of knowledge and experience to put forth to assist his customers. Apart from his professional career Mike has won 6 gold medals in competitive rowing, and is a top 3 downhill mountain biking champion in Ontario. Together with their beautiful daughters Brinleigh and Colbie, Mike and his wife Jennifer reside in Bolsover, Ontario.

KEVIN PETERSON

KEVIN PETERSON – SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Joining Sarjeants in 2005 as a Technician, Kevin has been an active member of the Sarjeant team serving in different roles such as HVAC Manager, Propane Coordinator and Technical Advisor. Now a member of our Outside Sales Team in the Simcoe County region, Kevin is dedicated to providing great service to all of our current and future customers. Outside of work, Kevin is an active member of the Simcoe Rural Fastball League with his home club being the Wyevale Tribe.

FRANK BARTER

FRANK BARTER – SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Frank joined The Sarjeant Company in 2019 with his focus being directed primarily to commercial petroleum sales. Frank has 25+ years of sales and account management experience to bring to the table; as well as 5+ years serving Simcoe County small businesses. Frank graduated from Sir Sandford Fleming College’s Fish & Wildlife Technician Program in 1986, followed by Trent University with an Honours BBA in 1990. Frank is an avid skier/snowboarder. In his spare time Frank enjoys going for walks in the conservation areas Simcoe County has to offer with his daughter Arielle and their black lab Jax.

GRANT MUSSON – SALES REPRESENTATIVE

Grant joined The Sarjeant Company in 2016 and began as a concrete dispatcher working out of our Orillia plant. In 2022 Grant made the switch to sales representative. As a sales representative Grant believes in customer service being at the forefront. Grant is a self proclaimed family man and in his free time enjoys snowboarding, fishing , or playing golf and hockey.

DAN JACKSON – SALES REPRESENTATIVE (MUSKOKA)

Dan joined the Sarjeants family in 2020 as a Ready-Mix Driver for our Huntsville location. Dan’s primary responsibilities were to deliver concrete mix to customer’s sites discharge loads and maintain his vehicle. While travelling to different sites, Dan has managed to build great rapport with the Huntsville customers. His customer service experience has been a great asset alongside his many qualifications. Dan brings with him over 15 years of experience in the Concrete Industry. In previous roles, he has been a Concrete Forming Supervisor, Owner Operator, and Line Pump Operator and completed maintenance on all equipment. Dan has also gained great knowledge of concrete products that Sarjeants has to offer while working as a Ready-Mix Driver!

MARCO NUNZIATO – MARKETING COORDINATOR

Marco joined The Sarjeant Company in 2020 and currently handles all marketing communications, initiatives, and promotions for all Sarjeant and Custom Concrete Northern divisions. Marco has 8+ years of Marketing and Content Creation experience in the business and not-for-profit sectors.  Marco is a graduate of Lakehead University obtaining his Honors Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Business Administration.  Marco is an avid golfer and enjoys playing video games, soccer, and hockey.

HVAC TECHNICIANS

PAUL JOHNSTON – HVAC TECHNICIAN

After completing his HVAC Technician schooling from Fleming College in Peterborough, Ontario Paul found his way to the Sarjeant Company Ltd. in 2018. He is consistently on the road travelling the Simcoe County and the Muskokas to deliver the best possible products and services to our customers. In the summer time he can often be found playing baseball outside of work, and snowboarding in the winter.

DWIGHT LOSHAW – HVAC TECHNICIAN

Dwight has 23+ years experience and has been with Sarjeants for the past 3 years as an HVAC Technician. In those 3 years he has found that he enjoys consistently travelling to different jobs sites and working with different types of equipment.

ANTHONY DUNMORE – HVAC TECHNICIAN

Anthony has 25+ years experience in installation and service in the HVAC field and takes pride in the service he is able to provide and quality of the workmanship put into each project. Outside of work Anthony enjoys camping, hiking, fishing and watching movies, and has aquariums as a hobby. Anthony looks forward to expanding within The Sarjeant Company Ltd and his field.
