Detour Gold Corporation
The Custom Concrete (Northern) Ready-Mix Concrete Division was commissioned by Detour Gold Corporation to assist with the construction of a new processing plant, housing and other various buildings on the site of the Detour Gold Lake Mine. This project is located about 180 kilometres (110 miles) northeast of Cochrane, Ontario and has historically produced 1.8 million ounces of gold. Construction of the site started in 2011 and gold production began shortly after in 2013, targeting an average annual production of 650,000 ounces with an estimated mine life of 16 years.
Custom Concrete (Northern) and The Sarjeant Company Ltd. combined efforts to provide approximately 120,000 m3 (160,000 yd3 ) of concrete for projects requirements. The operation utilized 2 concrete plants and 18 trucks producing up to 8,000 m3 (10,400 yd3) over a 72 hour period, for an average of 111m3/hr (144 yd3/hr).
