The Position
Custom Concrete has an immediate opening for a permanent, full-time 310T/421A Apprentice Heavy Equipment Service Truck Mechanic to join our team! As a large diversified company, our main focus is safety.
Your Duties and Responsibilities
Our Apprentice will report to Shop Foreman and be responsible for performing the following work on all company equipment and highway vehicles:
- Diagnose, test, adjust, and repair, systems of heavy-duty vehicles
- Scheduled Daily Inspections on Production Equipment (Crushers/Screeners/Loaders)
- Examines, tests, and troubleshoots, electrical and mechanical problems using standard testing procedures and computer diagnostic equipment
- Performs routine and scheduled maintenance services according to manufacturer’s specifications
- Maintain inventory and ensure parts are stocked to standard
- Perform emergency road repairs as required
- Submit records of repairs and preventative maintenance to Fleet Administrators
- Complete reports to record problems and daily workload (laptop provided)
- Tracking hours and service intervals on all equipment
- Troubleshoot, service and repair, defects on sites
- Perform maintenance as per assigned work orders
- Welding/torching and cutting are required
- Maintain a safe and orderly working environment
- Completing major and minor repairs
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 years’ experience is required
- Must be registered as an apprentice (preferably in your second or third year)
- Physically fit, with the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs on a regular basis
- Must be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
- Must be able to handle the physical demands of a job that’s in a high-risk environment
- Must be able to work outside and in all weather conditions
- Must be able to possibly work long hours as required (including weekends or holidays)
- Must be able to fulfill our schedule needs as listed
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair problems of general and advanced nature
- Knowledge of tools, equipment, materials, methods, and practices of engine repair, mechanical and electrical systems and maintenance is required
- Ability to work in safe and efficient manner

Experienced and licensed professional
Working Conditions
Working conditions are conducive with a typical Garage environment; must be comfortable with extensive physical labour demands and working with high-risk materials/products. Occasional overtime maybe required to complete various tasks or special projects, which is compensated.
