Hospice Huntsville

A not-for-profit, registered charitable organization, Hospice Huntsville provides care and support to individuals and

their families in the Huntsville area who are facing end of life situations. Hospice Huntsville is primarily funded by voluntary donations, churches, service clubs, in memorials, planned fundraising and some government funding, while all services Hospice Huntsville offers are at no cost to those they serve.

In July, 2011, the ground was broken on what is now a new 3500 square-foot facility which houses five fully integrated bedrooms with private bathrooms, a common living room, and kitchen and office space. The hospice operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide patients and their families with services such as grief support, pain and symptom management and education. To achieve this, the Hospice was relying on gift-in-kind support from the local businesses in the Huntsville community.

Numerous local businesses committed their support to the building of the residential hospice, including The Sarjeant Company, which donated $20,000 of concrete for the building.

With support such as this, Hospice Huntsville can continue to provide care and support, along with professional training programs for new volunteers, formal grief support programs and the maintenance of two palliative care rooms at the Huntsville District Memorial Hospital.
