The Dunlop Housing Project is a government funded affordable housing project near downtown Barrie. The eight-storey building will have 93 units once complete aiming at helping to alleviate the pressure of finding affordable housing for those who need it most.
.
Located within a primary intensification area, the Dunlop Street West property was redesignated in the Official Plan and rezoned in 2019 to permit the development of the project, which would also include ground-floor commercial space on the south side of Dunlop West, east of Boys Street, and south and west of Frances Street South.
The MDM Developments project is to include private balconies and rooftop terraces, with exterior surface parking at the rear of the site.
Environmentally protected land on the site’s southern portion will be dedicated to the city and form part of Audrey Milligan Pond.
The property, which backs onto Milligan’s Pond and Bunker’s Creek, is just over one acre in size.
