Custom Concrete (Northern) installed a new paste plant at Tahoe Resources Inc. Timmins West Mine Site in 2013. This 24/7 operation runs with a 4.5 cubic meter twin shaft mixer designed to screen sand and tailings from their damn. This project uses a combination of 70% fine sand and 30% tailings. The cement content varies from 1.5% to 7% depending on the mine requirements. The mix design also utilizes a viscosity modifying agent to help with segregation and superplasticizers to help with strength and lower the water content.  The tailings are screened to produce a 1 inch minus product; and the sand is screened to produce a 10 mm minus product. The mix design is often altered to accommodate either 100% sand or 100% tailings depending on the mine requirements.
